Dr. Lawrence Barr Aspires to Modernize Our Air Traffic System
Dr. Barr attributes his success to his intellectual curiosity and interest in transportation safety
Portsmouth, NH, September 18, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lawrence Barr, Senior Research Engineer for the United States Department of Transportation's Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in statistical and cost-benefit risk management.
A recognized authority in risk management with regard to statistical and cost-benefit analysis, Dr. Lawrence Barr joined the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center in 2000. He has conducted numerous research studies in the areas of motor vehicle crash causation, collision avoidance countermeasures, driver fatigue and distraction, and aviation safety and security. He was previously employed as an aerospace program manager where he worked on propulsion technologies for rocket engines and communication satellites. Dr. Barr aspires to start working with the next generation of transportation to modernize the air traffic system. He pursued work in his field after his dissertation professor encouraged him to get into systems analysis for highway safety applications.
Dr. Barr holds engineering degrees from the University of California at Davis, the Pennsylvania State University, and the University of New Hampshire.
