Perhaps it was his 15 years of experience with the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets that led Howard S. Malberg to his current position as Senior Coordinator of Public Health for Amtrak. Or maybe it was his demonstrated expertise in food safety, kitchen inspection, employee food conduct, pest control, sanitation and safety. Whatever the reason, Malberg continues to thrive at Amtrak in his 16th year, recognized for his unwavering dedication and caring nature. He is responsible for investigating all food safety and services on a level similar to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, maintaining train sanitation, managing pest control and ensuring water quality. He aspires to work as a consultant or in training as he moves forward in his career.

Mr. Malberg holds a bachelor's degree in microbiology from The University of Georgia College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. A certified sanitarian and professional in food safety, Mr. Malberg maintains professional affiliations with the International Association for Food Protection. He also serves as the Southern California National Food Technologist on the Food Safety Advisory Committee for Los Angeles and Orange County, and President for the Citrus Chapter of the California Environmental Health Association.
